WELL DONE, FAITHFUL SERVANT
Doris Aseltine
Born November 3, 1920 in Okemos, Michigan, Doris Aseltine (Powell) went to be with her Saviour on November 25, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband John Aseltine. After graduation from high school, Doris enrolled in Moody Bible Institute. There she met John Aseltine and they were married. After graduating they moved to the Ozarks and began working in home missions. Most of their meetings were held in country school houses. They saw God’s hand of provision there and this time prepared them for a lifetime of ministry. They left this work because of John’s health and moved to Michigan where Strickland Baptist Church in Shepherd, Michigan, called them to the pastorate. While attending a missions conference, God spoke to them individually about missionary service to Africa. Doris and John, 1996 The Aseltines retired in southern France and continued to assist in the churches. John passed away in 1999. Doris recently traveled to the States to visit family and supporters. She had recently undergone open heart surgery. First Baptist Church of Okemos, Michigan, has served as the commissioning church for the Aseltines and has supported them for 59 years! EBM has been privileged to be the serving agency throughout that time. EBM celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2008. That means that the Aseltines have been a part of EBM for 75% of the Missions’ history! A memorial fund at EBM is established for church planting in France. Gifts to the memorial can be sent to EBM, PO Box 781438, Indianapolis, IN 46278 or accepted online at www.ebm.org. Click on giving and indicate the memorial gift in the comment box. |
