THANKFUL FOR FREEDOM

Do you live in a free country?  Are you thankful for your freedom?  When was the last time that you considered the price that was paid to secure this freedom?

Mardasson_Memorial.jpgJonathan and Sarah Weber are in Belgium--the country and people that God has called them to join Him in His work there.  Jonathan recently sent wrote his thoughts about freedom that we pass on to you.

"The opportunity to live in Belgium has provided our family with many reminders of the costliness of freedom.  Every time we enter Zoutleeuw, we see a monument to the soldiers from Zoutleeuw who died in WW I and WW II.  Recently we visited Bastogne to see the Mardasson Memorial built by the Belgians for the U.S. soldiers who liberated Belgium in WW II.  We also saw a memorial to the paratroopers of Easy Company  (Band of Brothers) who defended Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.  We also visited the U.S. WW II cemetery in Henri-Chapelle where 7,992 military dead are buried.  We were reminded that political freedom is costly--so many have given their lives for it!

These reminders of the costliness of political freedom have caused us to reflect upon the costliness of the spiritual freedom that we have in Jesus Christ.  Jesus bore our sins on his own body when he gave his life for sinners. He paid the penalty for sin and secured for us salvation.

The opportunity to serve Christ in Belgium has provided our family with many opportunities to proclaim the message of Christ's sacrifice to provide spiritual freedom to those who call upon the name of the Lord.  We minister each day with the goal of proclaiming the message of the Gospel to those living in Belgium so they may obtain spiritual freedom and in turn proclaim the Gospel to others.

Do we remember the costliness of being in Belgium to accomplish the task of partnering with Belgians to equip Belgians to proclaim Christ to the world?

Yes we do!  We think often of our supporters who have given much to enable us to be here.  Thank you for partnering with the Weber family in prayer & financial support to make it possible for us to remain here to do the work of ministry in spiritually dark Belgium and Western Europe. While the politically free countries of Western Europe remain shrouded in spiritual darkness, God is at work bringing the light of the Gospel to shine in this darkness.  God is using the lives of believers who are faithfully serving their Lord.  These beacons of spiritual light are shining brightly in the darkness to point others to Jesus Christ!  Please consider our testimonies of God's work in and through us in Belgium.
