monthly focus ~ is a missions agency necessary
IS A MISSIONS AGENCY NECESSARY?
Nowhere in Scripture do we find an agency sending missionaries to evangelize around the world. Biblically this is the responsibility and priority of the local church. So why do mission agencies exist? Are they necessary? Service is paramount in today’s culture. As the world become increasingly more sophisticated, and complex, it seems that responsibilities exceed the 24 hour days and 7 day weeks we all enjoy. Marketing research studies show that service is a key industry. Service is the key to time management and helping us to focus on priorities. Service is not a new concept based on some marketing statistics for EBM. Since its inception, EBM has not only said “We Serve.” EBM does! EBM stands ready to “help churches reach the world.” EBM does that by: Expediting the Business of Missions Service to the church and to their missionaries whom they entrust to EBM has and continues to be the highest priority. EBM understand that churches, not agencies, are central to missions. EBM as a service agency comes alongside churches to help them in reaching the world for Christ. Certainly churches can care for the business of their missionaries, but often they are surprised at the myriad of details to care for with just one or two families. EBM response to a church is not to usurp their authority but to extend a helping hand to them. Providing services to missionaries allows churches to focus their time to handle other priorities of the church to its body and evangelism to its community. The EBM motto is “helping churches reach the world.” We seek to do that for churches both in the US and internationally by providing services to them. |

No, but working through a missions agency is very useful.
