GOD'S HAND AT WORK

baptism_in_Baniera2.jpgGod’s Hand is at work in Niger.

This fall, EBM missionaries, Bob and Lois Gillespie continued to visit a church in Baniera, near Niamey, Niger.  October 9 was a red-letter day on the calendar for both the Gillespies and the church family.  Truly history was unfolding right in front of them.

For the last 4 years, the church in Baniera has not had a pastor.  In spite of that, the church has not only grown strong but has started 4 additional churches.  On October 9, they all came together for a special Sunday celebration.  That day, 69 Nigerian believers obeyed the Lord by being baptized.  Bob had the privilege of baptizing these men and women.  Immediately following the baptism, the believers celebrated with one another in communion, singing songs, listening to choirs, hearing God’s Word, and fellowshipping with each other.  baptism_in_Baniera3.jpgThis service had to be held outside as there was absolutely no room in the small church inside.  The believers are anxiously awaiting a new larger building.

Pray for these brothers and sisters in Christ as many of them face verbal and physical persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ.  Thank God for His work in preserving and growing the church.  Thank God for the national leadership that is leading this body of believers.  Pray that God will provide a Nigerien pastor for them.  Truly, “To God be the Glory, Great things He has done.”
